Description
New set of foam pieces for acoustical damping of the integrated speaker cabinets in the following Bang & Olufsen models:
BeoSound Century
BeoSound 2000
The original black foam is known to disintegrate and fall apart, no longer performing any damping function.
The solution is to remove the old foam and replace it with new.
Note:
ALWAYS remove the speaker driver elements from the speaker enclosures before starting work.
Note the lead colors and their individual placements on the driver connecting tags.

The speaker enclosures are glued from factory when assembled.
Basically there are two methods for replacing the foam pieces inside.
It is possible to crack open the enclosures using suitable tools and then glueing them back together after replacing the foam.
This would insure the best cleaning and it would make the installation itself very easy, but it is a bit labor intensive because, to get to the point of actually cracking the enclosures open and replacing the foam, the speaker enclosures will also need to be dismounted from the BeoSound main cabinet, unplugged etc.
Another method is to use a vacuum cleaner through the openings for the speaker drivers (always remove all speaker elements before working on these, or vacuum may destroy the drivers).
This will remove the majority of the old foam, and the new foam pieces can be fitted down through the openings and distributed correctly using a finger through the openings. This method is fast, fairly easy, and the results will be just as good.
One could argue, that not all of the old foam can be removed this way, which is correct, but any remaining fragments will be insignificantly small and held in place by the new foam, so they cannot go anywhere.
Besides, there are no electronics, no electronic components and no circuit boards inside the speaker enclosures, so any remains of old foam cannot damage anything.
